Photography  2022

The photography series began in 2016. Initially, the opportunity to photograph strangers arose by chance when I attended a performance art event at Acid House through a friend's introduction. By taking candid shots at the event, I later connected with the performer online, leading to a conversation that sparked the idea of a collaborative photoshoot. The performer agreed to be my model. At first, I knew of very few suitable locations for shooting, so I chose the semi-abandoned paper mill on my campus and the nearby riverside park. Through conversations during the shoots, we gradually got to know each other. The camera angles and the model's poses evolved from initially stiff to natural and coordinated.

After the first shoot, I found the collaborative relationship intriguing and began inviting strangers through online media for more photoshoots. This led me to actively seek out abandoned buildings, secluded beaches, and riversides, frequently traveling between the city and the suburbs to scout accessible and suitable locations. Over time, the exploration and discovery of ruins became a secondary hobby.

As the project progressed, the photography series with the mentioned performer started in 2016. It involved finding ruins and shooting with nude models met through social media for the first time on location. This made me realize that this could be seen as an experiment in social media trust: the willingness to go to a suburban ruin for nude photography, built on trust established in a completely unfamiliar context. Especially the documentation of the nude models during the shoots elevated the power dynamics to another level through the aggressiveness of photography. In hindsight, this may have been influenced by my unique gender perspective.
